Mark Carrington – President
Mark is an MPhil student in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Hughes. His research interests center around developing nano-structured materials for disruptive clean energy applications. Before coming to Cambridge, he spent five years studying, living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University, where he served as President of the Stanford Energy Club.
Shanice Choo - Membership
Shanice is a current member of Hughes pursuing an MPhil in Technology Policy. With an interest in venture capital, she won the King's Enterprise Award for helping form strategic Sino–British partnerships. Additionally, she previously spearheaded expansion efforts in the Middle East, South Korea and China with a focus on identifying potential talent hubs in relation to global startup ecosystems.
Andreas Hinz - Competition
Andreas is a Hughes alumnus. He holds a PhD in Sustainability Innovation and has done postgraduate studies in entrepreneurship. He has work experience in investment management, research and philanthropy. He is co-founder of a non-profit association and works at FHNW with a focus on the SwissInnovation Challenge Asia and entrepreneurship research.
Kate Kirk - Communications
Kate is a Hughes alumna. While an undergraduate at Hughes, she captained the University Ladies Real Tennis team. She is author of The Cambridge Phenomenon: 50 Years of Innovation and Enterprise, and The Cambridge Phenomenon: Global Impact. She has a deep knowledge of the Cambridge technology cluster and the people and companies that have made it such a global (but unsung) success.
Rupert Pearce-Gould - Chairman
Rupert is a Senior Member of Hughes, Entrepreneur in Residence at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at the Cambridge Judge Business School, and founder of Cambridge Corporate Consultants. An entrepreneur with experience in a wide range of companies and organisations, including venture capital, publicly listed companies and family businesses, he was one of the founding members of HHES and generously supported the first Hughes Hall Entrepreneurship Prize.
Philemon Poon - Events
Philemon is a current member of Hughes Hall. He is undertaking the MPhil in Technology Policy at the Cambridge Judge Business School. He has previously worked in energy and climate policy for the Australian government, and has served as the President of the University of New South Wales ‘Geoscience’ Society.

Lorraine Warne - Events
A member of Hughes, Lorraine is a seasoned entrepreneur who now heads Cambridge Inner Game Leadership, providing leadership coaching and mentoring to individuals, businesses and organisations. She runs a number of workshops, including at Cambridge Judge Business School and for the Institute of Directors in London, and has recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship at the Judge.
